What is the Top DAUG contest?

First of all, Congratulations to this year's winners. Charles Prettyman, Mark Landis, and Steve Rabits. As the Top DAUG, Charles recieves a pass to AU 2009.

I had the priveledge of working with the Top DAUG contest this year. Over 500 people took the test. Many were unaware of the contest or what it involved. The competition is in two phases. First, everyone interested takes a test and then the top 10 of those results move to round 2. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the first part, which consists of a cad test and multiple choice. For completing this, the entrants were given a t-shirt with the new Top DAUG design on it, chosen by AUGI members.

Many were unsure of what the test would be like and were reluctant to take it. Would you like to know what the top ten had to do for phase 2? There was a list of instructions to complete a drawing. It was taped over their monitor so that only the command line was showing. I have secured a copy of the instructions and will share it with you...later.

I'm  announcing a contest . Next Monday, December 15th, I'll post the instructions here. The first two drawings that I recieve that are 100% correct, will recieve a $125 voucher good towards an Autodesk Certification, which can be redeemed at a local ATC. Thanks to Gary Hercules of Autodesk for supplying the vouchers. I will post the instructions for the contest next Monday at 10 AM P.S.T.

I thought this might make it more interesting for those that didn't get to go to AU this year. Stay tuned...

I thought the Contest was pretty good this year. I did take the test, but seeing as I don't use Vanilla ACAD much at all, I found out a few things that I needed to read up on! And the tee shirt design was pretty cool too!
I enjoy participating it the TD contest each year to help me stay in touch with what is new in Vanilla ACAD. There are always questions about new settings or commands and by taking the test, you can see a couple things that have been updated (Not everything, but at least a couple).
See you next year at the Mandalay!
